Carbon Profiling as a solution to Whole-life carbon emission measurement in buildings.
Redefining Zero, co-authored by Gareth Roberts and Simon Sturgis of SCP, has proved an influential and often quoted research paper. It was an early examination of embodied and whole-life carbon in the built environment, including an early case study for Ropemaker Place, supported by British Land. It looked at carbon emissions from a practical analysis as well as from an economic point of view. It identified the shortcomings of then current legislation, and the inherent inaccuracy of looking at carbon emissions reduction from a solely operational point of view.
