Over 8,000 m2 of office and retail space in a prominent corner location at the junction of Oxford Street and Dean Street.
Sturgis Carbon Profiling was commissioned by Great Portland Estates to introduce the full design team to the concept of Whole Life Carbon, produce an assessment of 69/89 Oxford Street and to identify options that could reduce its embodied carbon impacts at design stage and through construction to practical completion.
SCP carried out carbon assessments at Stage C and Stage D of the project.
The Stage D Report showed that the embodied/operational split is approximately 80%: 20%, reflecting an underlying trend in the construction industry as regulations for operational emissions tighten and embodied carbon accounts for an increasingly large proportion of whole-life emissions.
SCP tailored a comprehensive embodied carbon reduction strategy for this project, which if implemented can allow a reduction of about 18%- 20% in the Whole-life carbon footprint.
