New 7-storey office development in London’s West End.

Sturgis Carbon Profiling was commissioned by Derwent London to undertake a carbon assessment for the project and suggest appropriate carbon reduction options. The scope of the carbon assessment covers all stages up to practical completion of the building, and excludes a ‘Whole-life’ assessment.

A comprehensive carbon baseline has been produced based on Stage C information and relevant carbon reduction solutions that have a savings potential of about 2,500 TCO2e have been identified and proposed.

The carbon reduction options explored include not only material and product alternatives but also more overarching design decisions like the selection of structural frame system and the façade finishes.

The carbon footprint of 25-33 Berners Street upon the proposed improvements compares well against its peer group of similar buildings. The assessment results are uploaded to feature the online WRAP Embodied Carbon Database.
